EXCITING NEWS!

The Greenfield Public Library will be a fine free library effective January 4, 2021. Because libraries exist to serve the community and are based on the concept of sharing resources this is a responsible position for a library to have. Becoming fine free for materials in the library guarantees that all people can access them regardless of their economic status.

The objective is always to get materials back so they are available for someone else to check out. For that reason everyone receives reminders about overdue items. It’s strongly suggested that patrons sign up for text or email notifications to help ensure they return items in a timely manner. Patrons can renew their own items online through the SHARE system 24 hours a day. When any items on an account are 14 days overdue that account will be blocked and the patron will not be able to check out any materials until the overdue items are returned. Although fines are waived, lost or damaged materials remain the responsibility of library cardholders who will be billed accordingly.

The library has fees for other services it provides. Black and white copying and printing fees are 15¢ per page up to a $5.00 maximum. If the pages are for a homework assignment the first ten pages are free. Color printing is $1.00 per page and there are no free pages. The fax fee is 15¢ per page for sending or receiving up to a $5.00 maximum.

There are several computers open for public use at no charge. Wi-Fi is available outside the building 24 hours a day.
