SHARING LIBRARIES

The Sharing Libraries donated by Laurye Davis in memory of her mother Sylvia Crawford have been restocked with children through adult books and DVDs. We still have one located on the corner across the street from the Catholic Hall. The other one is now just across the street from the NE corner of South Park. For hometowners – that’s by Marge Koehm’s former house😊. Our thanks to the current resident, Carla Patterson, for letting us use that spot (1st and 2nd pictures). We appreciate those who help us stock the libraries!

CHILDREN’S AREA:

In addition to the many games, puzzles, and toys we already had, we’re happy that we’ve been able to add some new ones to encourage even more imaginative play and social interaction for our younger patrons😊. We used the profits from our concession stand at the Miss Greenfield Beauty Pageant to purchase these, so thanks to all who supported us that evening! We have a tool bench as well as a Lego table with Lego storage drawers. Our biggest purchase is a Melissa and Doug kitchen set. You can even fill your glass with ice cubes on the outside of the refrigerator! What’s a kitchen without food and cooking supplies? We have those too! Bev’s Baskets & Bows Carrollton Florist & Gifts had all Melissa and Doug items 30% off so that really helped us out, and they even delivered it to us! If you haven’t brought your kids to the library for awhile- they’re missing out!

New Computers!

We’re excited to announce we’ve been able to purchase four new public access computers and one new monitor for the library! These replace our 10-15 year old Windows 7 models. They run Windows 10 and are very fast and efficient. This purchase was made possible by many generous donors and by applying for and receiving grants. In the near future we hope to complete this tech update with three additional new monitors.

EXCITING NEWS!

The Greenfield Public Library will be a fine free library effective January 4, 2021. Because libraries exist to serve the community and are based on the concept of sharing resources this is a responsible position for a library to have. Becoming fine free for materials in the library guarantees that all people can access them regardless of their economic status.

The objective is always to get materials back so they are available for someone else to check out. For that reason everyone receives reminders about overdue items. It’s strongly suggested that patrons sign up for text or email notifications to help ensure they return items in a timely manner. Patrons can renew their own items online through the SHARE system 24 hours a day. When any items on an account are 14 days overdue that account will be blocked and the patron will not be able to check out any materials until the overdue items are returned. Although fines are waived, lost or damaged materials remain the responsibility of library cardholders who will be billed accordingly.

The library has fees for other services it provides. Black and white copying and printing fees are 15¢ per page up to a $5.00 maximum. If the pages are for a homework assignment the first ten pages are free. Color printing is $1.00 per page and there are no free pages. The fax fee is 15¢ per page for sending or receiving up to a $5.00 maximum.

There are several computers open for public use at no charge. Wi-Fi is available outside the building 24 hours a day.

New Open Hours

Beginning Monday, November 2, our open hours will change. This change is not COVID related.😊We are still here to serve you!
